Long-distance challenges demand more than endurance—they demand preparation, precision, and the right tools. At SplashMaps, we invite adventurers like you to make your challenge OUR challenge with our growing range of specialist maps and fully custom design options built for the toughest journeys.
A French Foreign Legionnaire’s Challenge

Take the recent example of Dermot Cosgrove, whose story features on our Adventure Habits Podcast (27th April). A veteran of the French Foreign Legion, Dermot is no stranger to extreme environments. His latest challenge? Hauling a trolley of his belongings by hand from north to south across Iceland—one of the harshest, most remote landscapes on Earth—all while raising funds for Dogs for the Disabled.

To support him, Dermot turned to our Design Service. Using our new membership with the International Map Industry Association, we sourced outstanding cartography through IDNU’s Heiðar Svansson (pictured), featuring a stunning 1:500k scale map of Iceland. Too good to stay on paper, we transformed it into a durable SplashMap—overlaying Dermot’s exact route and the logo of his chosen cause.

This project also marks the launch of our new IDNU Iceland map—now our go-to for adventurers tackling this frozen frontier. Check it here

But we’re not stopping there. SplashMaps is expanding its commitment to long-distance challenges with a dedicated “Challenge Series.” You’ll already find maps for iconic routes like the Appalachian Trail, Heroes of Telemark, Bob Graham Round, and Paddy Buckley Round. Now, with the launch of our Coast to Coast Path National Trail map, we’re setting the standard for how we’ll support all your future challenges.
