There’s something rather special about taking a map you’ve helped create and then setting off to see whether it really works.
So, this time, Tiffany and I are heading to Spain to test the latest addition to the SplashMaps Challenge Series: our Camino Inglés SplashMap.
The Challenge Series has become much more than a collection of maps. They are planning tools, progress trackers and, perhaps most importantly, mementos of an adventure completed. There’s something wonderfully satisfying about looking at your map at the end of a day, seeing exactly where you’ve been and knowing that every kilometre has its own story.
The Camino Inglés is the latest in a growing series that now includes some of the UK’s great long-distance trails, including the Cotswold Way, Wainwright’s Coast to Coast and Hadrian’s Wall, as well as our growing collection of Caminos leading to Santiago de Compostela.
For Tiffany and me, this one has an extra significance. It will complete our first Camino adventure – following on from our own ‘Tweenmas’ challenge, walking St James’ Way from Reading to Southampton. Now we get to continue the journey and experience another of the routes that has inspired generations of pilgrims.
We’ll be using our Camino Inglés SplashMap to plan, navigate and keep track of our progress – and, of course, putting it through its paces in the real world.
