Winter Adventures in the Mountains: Keeping Hiking Safe, Adventurous and Inspiring

As winter sweeps across the peaks, mountain adventures take on a whole new meaning. At SplashMaps, we’re proud to collaborate with the organisations that keep our winter hiking safe, accessible, and endlessly inspiring for every hiker and adventurer.

Growing Our Partnership with the Mountain Training Association

Our collaboration with the Mountain Training Association (MTA)—established last year—has gone from strength to strength. We’re thrilled to have extended this partnership through to next year, helping more trainers and mountaineers access reliable navigation tools designed to perform in the toughest winter conditions.

MTA Members, look out for our maps at your Winter Conference and sign-up to our news letter for forthcoming partnership competitions and announcements.

Supporting the Heroes of Mountain Rescue

This year also marks a new and vital relationship with Mountain Rescue England and Wales (MREW). Thanks to Equipment Officer Paul Smith, SplashMaps now provides the biggest discounts yet to rescue teams via MREW’s internal Moodle system. It’s our way of giving back to those who keep the mountains safe for everyone.

And as the year began, we were honoured to see Northumberland Mountain Rescue using SplashMaps during their winter training in the snowy Cairngorm mountains—a true testament to the reliability of our products in extreme conditions.

A Powerful Collaboration with the BMC

This year, our partnership with the British Mountaineering Council (BMC) sparked one of the greatest responses to an email campaign competition we’ve ever seen! The enthusiasm from mountain lovers proved how passionate the community remains about hiking, be it summer or winter adventures, and exploring the outdoors responsibly. Together, we’re making it easier for everyone to plan, navigate, and enjoy their winter journeys with confidence.
