We are so pleased that Alastair Fee, BBC business correspondant picked up SplashMaps and our Kickstarter. On the eve of the Outdoors Show the BBC broadcast our film 6 times at breakfast, noon, dinner and late slots.
My thanks to Andrew Sykes (@cyclingeurope) for posting this on You Tube whilst I was busy building the stand! The film was a great chance to express what our backers mean to us. We’re building this thing together!
The (probably quite predictable) interest in our web site caused www.splashmaps.net to collapse for a few hours. Our apologies to all those trying to find out more. We are far more robust now!
The Outdoors Show goes on prompting some great tweets (https://twitter.com/splashmaps)! An increadibly positive and exciting experience.

I loved the map when I dropped by the stall at the Outdoors Show. It’s a brilliant idea and one which i am sure will catch on. I would like to see how well the map is usable in the field especially when making compass bearings etc – it’s a little easier if the map is flat. I have a massive interest in maps and also run a walking club, so if there’s any way I can help then give me a nudge. I would’ve bought a map yesterday, but to be quite honest I am more interested in mountain areas such as Lakeland. I will be very interested to see the Lake District map when it’s produced later in the year. Please keep me up-to-date. Have you seen either of my two maps? Snowdonia is in the pipeline for April.
