Team SplashMaps

What’s it like to be a Part of Team SplashMaps? Today we’ve just returned, sadly, early from Race to the Stones. But amazing things happened along the 40km of trail that Scott chewed up, maintaining 2nd place of the 2000 entrants who started 8am from Lewknor on the Ridgeway.  We’re all wishing Scott a speedy recovery after he succame to his Giardia, an illness he’d picked up in Delhi, after completing 40% of the Ultra this morning.

The support crew caught-up with Scott to find him in second place just a 3.5 miles out from the start at Lewknor in Buckinghamshire.

By 21kms in Goring our Guerrilla marketing had kicked-in so Scott got the reception he deserved.

We made a lot of friends and sold a few of our Ridgeway Havey SplashMaps too!  Then on to the 40km stage near West Ilsley

By 40km we had a 10 minute lead on 3rd place... but it wasn't looking great...

Sadly by this point (really just a few miles to the mid point) things looked bad and within a mile Scott had called ahead to be recovered from the trail. The Team car had been positioned at the 50km station.

The 50km position was where we heard from Scott

An amazingly organised trail thanks to Dave Rollins and team who we met again at the amazingly well organised 50km station.

Amazing to be involved in this as part of the team. Sad about the result but ultimate respect to Scott for giving it a go when things clearly weren’t right. Hope to see more true grit at the Glen Coe Skyline in September!
